The factory for producing smoked and canned meat in Kostelec was established in the year 1917 and its products became popular even before the Second World War in the whole of the then-Czechoslovakia. At that time, it manufactured all sorts of smoked meats - including sausages, ready meals, patés and hams in cans. The company maintained both its form and its traditional products (especially Kostelec frankfurters in cans) remained in the subconscious of customers even in the period of socialist nationalization.

 Kostelecké uzeniny is an example of the connection of the traditions of Czech food industries with the modern development of a concrete firm. Through tradition and human and technical potential, the company has today matured into a firm which is willing and able to compete with similar firms all across Europe.
